Are you being pumped?

"The oil companies are looking for one, two, or even four more years of record profits, and John McCain is promising more of the same," Martin O'Malley of Maryland said Wednesday.  "He's voted time and again against raising fuel efficiency standards. He's voted against renewable fuels and green jobs. He's made an Exxon lobbyist his Senate Chief of Staff, and he has 33 oil industry lobbyists as campaign advisors and fundraises.  I guess Big Oil has gotten quite a return on their $2 million investment in John McCain.

"We can choose four years more of the same failed policies that have gotten us where we are.  Four years more of oil companies calling the shots while hard working families are struggling.  That's what Senator McCain is offering.  Or we can choose a new, clean energy future that gets us where we need to be.  We can make a different bet -- a bet on the ingenuity, industry and determination of the American people.  That's what Barack Obama is offering."

Join the Democratic Party of Utah and Democrats across the country in a national campaign to fight John McCain's big giveaway to Big Oil companies.

On the final night of the convention ...

Sen. Barack Obama’s message of hope and openness has captured the imagination of Americans in ways unseen for decades. As a result, every rally, every fund raiser, every possibility to see the candidate in person has been overwhelmed.

And Sen. Obama’s acceptance speech in front of over 70,000 at INVESCO Field in Denver, the grand finale of a historic convention, is no exception.

The Democratic Party of Utah regrets that many passionate Democrats were not able to get admission tickets.

Water for Vegas? McCain comment stirs uproar
The bonfire has been stacked for some time, but Arizona Sen. John McCain tossed in a match last week when he said the 86-year-old law that governs use of the Colorado River ''obviously'' should be renegotiated. The presumptive Republican presidential nominee clarified his statement Wednesday, saying it may have been "mistakenly construed as a call to rescind the Colorado Compact" when all he wanted was a more measured approach - which nevertheless could mean less water for Utah.
