Hello Friends of the Indian Walk-In Center-

As many of you are aware, President Bush has proposed limination of  the Urban Indian Health Program funding in FY 2007 budget.

This $33 million line item funds 34 urban Indian health centers under Title V of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act (PL 94-437; September 30, 1976). If eliminated, most of our urban Indian health centers would  close or fade away.  The Indian Walk-In Center could be one of those sites, as the only urban Indian health program in Utah.

The Utah Concerned Citizens of the First Nations has organized a Walk in support of ALL Indian rights and to remind the Federal Government of their trust responsibilities and treaty promises with the Indigenous Peoples of the United States.

Please join the procession on Friday April 21, 2006, in front of the
Indian Walk-In Center at 11:00am (120 West 1300 South).  Marchers will be led up State Street by our Native Elder, Mr. Bob Taylor, until we reach the Wallace F. Bennett Federal Building at 125 South State Street.  Organizers of the event believe we can get at least 300 people to support this "Walk of Honor."
