FRIDAY APRIL 28 - NO WAY DAYAct by Friday, April 28, 2006
Gov. Jon Huntsman, in coordination with Rep. Jim Matheson, Rep. Chris Cannon, Sen. Orrin Hatch, and Rep. Rob Bishop, is going to declare this Friday, April 28, “No Way Day,” and will be holding a press conference/rally at 12:00 pm in the State Office Building auditorium behind the Capitol. He will encourage Utahns to write letters to the BLM opposing approval of a transfer facility needed for transportation of the nuclear waste casks.
As many of you are aware, President Bush has proposed limination of the Urban Indian Health Program funding in FY 2007 budget.
This $33 million line item funds 34 urban Indian health centers under Title V of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act (PL 94-437; September 30, 1976). If eliminated, most of our urban Indian health centers would close or fade away. The Indian Walk-In Center could be one of those sites, as the only urban Indian health program in Utah.

This is our common charge as westerners." - Stewart Udall, former Congressman (D-AZ) and Secretary of the Interior
