news: Congressman Bishop now working for Sutherland?
It appears that Utah Congressman Rob Bishop is moonlighting, working during his off hours for the conservative think tank, the Sutherland Institute.
Bishop recently sent out a seven-page fundraising letter to constituents but he wasn't asking for money for himself. Heck, he's got EnergySolutions for that.
No, he was asking his constituents to donate money to Sutherland Institute because "our national government is out of control."
Citing a quote from Ronald Reagan, an obligatory feature of any good conservative fundraising letter, he lets his constituents know, however, that it is not too late. They can protect the values they care about by sending $100, $500, $1,000, $5,000 $10,000, $25,000 or any higher amount they feel is necessary to save themselves.
The letter contains a stamped return envelope addressed to "The Honorable Rob Bishop, and then Sutherland Institute's address in Salt Lake City.
While the return address on the letter is Sutherland's, it begins: "From the desk of Congressman Rob Bishop."
While a portion of Bishop's constituents (or would that be Sutherland Institute's constituents?) live in Salt Lake City, they can't call their congressman to ask about the letter, or any other issue, without paying a long-distance fee. Bishop's Utah office is in Ogden and he does not list a toll-free number.
